Bleeding or Discoloration
Knots and resinous woods (semisolid substance secreted in woods), creosote (the preservatives used in woods) will release stain underneath the paint surface. This problem is generally called bleeding or discoloration. The substances release from the surfaces have tendency to bleed into newly painted surfaces. In order to prevent this situation, the exterior surfaces should be cleaned well before applying paint and should be free of any such material on the surface. Then the surface should be sealed with good stain filler. This procedure can be applied to finish the interior surface texture and also to cover other stains such as crayon, ballpoint pen ink, markers and water stains to eliminate bleeding.
