Efflorescence
Efflorescence is the powdery substance that forms on the surface of rocks and brickwork. This salty color deposit usually caused by moisture in masonry and can be appeared in both painted and unpainted surfaces. It looks like frost on top of the wall surface. This substance must be removed before paint is applied. This can be removed by wire brushing and washing. Wash the surface with good substance removing solution and make sure to rinse off the solution and let dry completely prior to the application of paint.
