Loss of Gloss
LOSS OF GLOSS:
Application of paint drops its initial gloss because of a number of reasons. Improper filling material causes this issue on exterior surfaces. The surface porosity of the wall may increase this situation. Hence the areas where the old paint has been removed should be primed properly. This will help eliminating the surface porosity that causes flatting. Similarly, application of paint in cold, damp or foggy weathers can also cause loss of gloss. This effect is generally appears in Over-Thinning paint too.
Furthermore, insufficient drying time between paint coats causes dulling of the paint film.
To avoid this issue of flattening of fresh paint films, prime the surface properly, avoid unnecessary thinning of paint, clean surfaces thoroughly and apply paint in moderate weather conditions.
